Karachi (Staff Reporter) Rotary International’s newly elected President for 2024-25, Stephanie Urchick, along with Aide to Stephanie Urchick Tom Gump, arrive on tour of Pakistan. On this occasion, a gala dinner was hosted at the Governor House in Karachi to honor them. Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, RI Director Muhammad Faiz Qudwai, Trustee of Rotary Foundation Aziz Memon, Rotary International District 3271 Governor Muhammad Hanif Khan, First Lady, Deputy Governor Sheikh Imtiaz Hussain, District Governor Elect 2024-25 Rizwan Adhiya, District Governor Nominee 2025-26 Shakil Qaimkhani, Admiral (R) Tanveer Ahmed, District Secretary Asif Makati, and other Rotarians were also present.
During the event, Rotary International’s newly elected President for 2024-25, Stephanie Urchick, awarded Admiral (R) Tanveer Ahmed with Rotary International’s highest award, “SERVICE ABOVE SELF.” On this occasion, Rotary International’s Deputy Governor Sheikh Imtiaz Hussain stated that Rotary Pakistan District 3271 is gaining prominence in Rotary International due to its outstanding social services. He praised Rotary International’s commendable services in eradicating polio, COVID-19, and other deadly diseases in Pakistan and other countries.
Sheikh Imtiaz Hussain emphasized that Rotary International and all Rotarians, under the leadership of newly elected President Stephanie Urchick, are dedicated to working on further social and developmental projects. These initiatives aim to provide education, employment, skills, health, and basic life facilities to the public. He added that Rotarians are actively working day and night to achieve all the goals of Rotary International, including efforts to combat environmental pollution.
Highlighting Rotary Pakistan District 3271’s achievements, Sheikh Imtiaz Hussain mentioned the establishment of a smart village for flood victims and the implementation of projects for their well-being. He also stated that Rotary International and Rotarians are playing a vital role in enhancing literacy rates in Pakistan and empowering women to contribute to the country’s economic development.
Sheikh Imtiaz Hussain further mentioned the establishment of solar water filtration plants to address the issue of contaminated water affecting polio and other diseases in rural areas. He highlighted Rotary’s efforts to provide essential facilities to the people of marginalized regions, addressing issues arising from the lack of basic amenities.
On this occasion, Stephanie Urchick, along with Aide to Stephanie Urchick Tom Gump, also visited Rotary Pakistan’s smart village and expressed their full cooperation for upcoming projects that will contribute significantly to the country’s development.
