KARACHI: The Businessmen Group (BMG) attained victory in Karachi Chamber’s Annual Elections 2023 wherein all 15 BMG candidates attained 43,485 votes whereas the only opponent, who was contesting for a single seat, was able to fetch 315 votes only.

According to a statement issued, the Karachi Chamber marked history in this year’s elections as for the very first time, KCCI, in addition to manual voting facility, also introduced electronic voting which was highly appreciated by KCCI’s member who found e-voting more convenient and speedier. The e-voting facility received overwhelming response as a sum of 38,285 votes were casted through e-voting while the remaining 5,505 votes were casted through manual voting.

On the occasion, Chairman Businessmen Group (BMG) Zubair Motiwala, Vice Chairmen BMG Haroon Farooki, Anjum Nisar, Jawed Bilwani, General Secretary BMG AQ Khalil and President KCCI Mohammed Tariq Yousuf, while congratulating the elected Managing Committee Members, expressed gratitude to the business & industrial community of Karachi for reposing confidence and trust on Businessmen Group.
While paying glowing tribute to all BMG supporters from industrial town associations, trade associations and commercial markets of the city, BMG Leadership hoped that the newly elected BMG representatives would make all out efforts in espousing the cause of business and industrial community and further enhance the status of public service which is the motto of BMG.

Chairman BMG Zubair Motiwala said, “By the grace of Almighty Allah, BMG has been winning all the elections every year without losing a single seat since 1998, of which majority of the elections have been won unopposed by BMG Candidates.

He said that 26 years of success in a row is an acknowledgement of the public service by the Businessmen Group which also testifies that overwhelming majority of Business and Industrial Community endorses the policies of BMG because they fully understand and strongly believe that BMGians are serving them selflessly with total sincerity and dedication.

“We were expecting more votes but, unfortunately, around 1,000 to 1,500 voters were unable to make it to the venue due to sit-in at Sheheen Complex which caused severe traffic jam in the entire vicinity”, he said, adding that many of KCCI’s voters, who were stuck up in traffic jam, stepped out of their vehicles and walked towards KCCI’s building as they were eager to support BMG by casting their votes.

He also appreciated the hard work done by all BMGians who carried out intense campaigning to motivate maximum number of KCCI Members to vote in favor of BMG candidates, besides appreciating KCCI Office Bearers, Secretary General and the Staff for organizing KCCI’s Annual Elections in a flawless manner which was also widely acknowledged by the voters.
The Office Bearers elections will be held on 30th September 2023, followed by the Annual General Meeting on same day.

Chairman Businessmen Group (BMG) Zubair Motiwala addressing the gathering after BMG’s victory in KCCI’s Annual Elections 2023, Vice Chairman BMG Haroon Farooki, Anjum Nisar, Jawed Bilwani, General Secretary BMG AQ Khalil, President KCCI Mohammed Tariq Yousuf, Vice President Haris Agar and others are also seen in the picture.
