ISLAMABAD – Celebrating a major milestone of over 200 million mobile users nationwide, the Pakistani government distributed free mobile phones to 200 women through a computerized raffle held in the capital.
The winners were announced by PTA Chairman and Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima during the event. In her address, the minister highlighted the critical role of youth as Pakistan’s greatest strength and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to ensure fast, reliable internet access for all citizens.
She noted that preparations are underway for a new spectrum auction and emphasized the importance of initiatives like the National Fiberization Policy and expansion of submarine cable infrastructure.
Shaza Fatima also mentioned that over 1.2 million laptops have been distributed to students, and efforts to boost digital access—especially for women—are steadily gaining momentum.
