Asin Thottumkal is an Indian actress, model and a dancer. She was born on October 26, 1985 in Kochi, Kerala, India. She is the daughter of Joseph Thottumkal and Seline Thottumkal. Her name Asin is a composition of two different languages; the ‘A’ in her name is from Sanskrit language which means ‘without’ and Sin is from English language, so her name means “without sin”.
She got her early education from Naval public School and St. Teresa’s School then attended St. Teresa’s College. She was graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from MG University.
She was married to Rahul Sharma who is a business person and co founder of Micromax in 2016 and has a daughter named Arin Rayn.
She appeared in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu films. Other than she is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. She began her career in South Indian Film Industry but later shifted to Bollywood. She speaks eight languages and has dubbed her own films by herself. She is called “Queen of Kollywood” by online portals in 2007.
Asin Thottumkal is famous for these two master pieces which are Ghajini and Ready. Ghajini was the first bollywood film to collect over 1 billion in the domestic box office and 1.9 billion worldwide. Afterwards she did a movie (Ready) with Salman Khan which was also a major hit and collected 1.84 billion worldwide. She also appeared in Housefull 2, Bol Bachchan and Khiladi 786 which were also commercially successful crossing over 1 billion.
She received Filmfare Awards and Kalaimamani for her outstanding performances.
Other than her acting career she was a part of the camps, which were meant to help the Sri Lankan Tamil people who were affected by the Sri Lankan Civil War.
She has also been the brand ambassador for several companies and products. She appeared in many of the commercials too like Mirinda, Parachute, Spinz talc, Lux and many others. She has been endorsing Mirinda since 2004.
