CG Cemal Sangu says “we are all experiencing the pride, joy, and excitement of celebrating the 99th Anniversary of the Republic of Turkiye. This year we are deeply saddened by the massive flood disaster and the destruction it has caused. I wish almighty Allah’s mercy to our brothers and sisters who lost their lives in the flood disaster and a speedy recovery to those who were injured. As brothers of Pakistan, we give all our support and solidarity to alleviate the suffering of our Pakistani brothers and sisters”.
According to the envoy, the Turkish Emergency and Disaster Management Authority AFAD, the Turkish Red Crescent Society, and with more than 10 Turkish NGOs are actively working in Sindh & Balochistan.
Turkiye has provided 15 aircraft and 13 charity trains and around 10 trucks of aid. The total relief items are around seven thousand five hundred tons, which include thousands of tents, blankets, beds, pillows, food parcels, hygienic and cleaning items, kitchen sets, motor boats, medical items, medicines, etc.
“We did not send only the relief items but also tens of our aid teams came here and carried out aid operations on the ground. Turkish and Pakistani people stood by each other in all good and bad times. We can never forget the support given to us by the Muslims of the sub-continent during the First World War. We are always grateful for the people from this region. We have 90 thousand mosques in Türkiye and during the flood time, every Friday prays Turkish people prayed for Pakistan during their Friday prayers and they collected aid for Pakistani brothers and sisters. Of course, we will not stop here. We are also planning to be engaged in rehabilitation and reconstruction activities once the relief works are over” said Cemal Sangu
“I have the pleasure to inform you that soon we will have the Turkish Cultural Center here in Karachi.” We are thankful for the kind corporation extended by the KMC.
The opening of the Turkish Cultural Center will further contribute to the deepening of our cultural relations.
“We have 6 PAK-TÜRK Maarif schools in Sindh Region and these schools provide high-quality education to our Pakistani students. We have approximately 3000 students in these schools and we are planning to increase these numbers.
Pakistan’s security is important to us and it is equal to ours. In November there will be the International Defense Exhibition – IDEAS in Karachi. We are expecting around 30 Turkish Defense companies to participate in the exhibition. This is another indication of Turkiye’s strong determination to boost defense cooperation with brotherly Pakistan. I believe together we can do more and more InShAllah” said Turkish CG.
