KARACHI – Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig Senior Vice President FPCCI along with Foundering President Syed Turab Shah & Secretary General Aminullah Hussaini US-Pak Trade Development Council met Nathan Seifert Senior Commercial Officer and Tashfeen Mehdi at US Consulate Karachi to discuss their forthcoming trade delegation visit to Houston and to facilitate exhibitors.
The exhibition will be held at George R. Brown Convention Centre Houston from 23rd to 24th Nov 2019, g more than 70 exhibitors from Pakistan from various sectors like fashion, education, textile, food processing, surgical & sports goods, real estate and oil & gas are participating in the exhibition followed by B2B meetings.
Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig will be leading the delegation and would meet the premier chambers like Greater Houston Partnership, Pakistan Chamber of Commerce Houston, Houston Karachi Sister City Association, Pakistan Association Greater Houston. US-Pak Trade Development Council will be hosting a dinner reception on 23rd Nov to be attended by congress men, senators, prominent businessmen, officials of Pakistan Consulate General, exhibitors, press & electronic media.
The present volume of trade between USA & Pakistan is USD 6.5 billion per Annum out of which exports from Pakistan is USD 3.6 billion and exports from USA is USD 2.9 billion.
There exists a great potential to enhance the trade and both the leaders in their recent meeting desired to double it. Dr. Baig suggested to include textile and leather in GSP scheme for duty free export to US, whereas Nathan Seifert desired to increase the import from USA to balance the exportable surplus in favor of Pakistan. Dr. Baig hoped that the visit will create new avenues of trade & investment between the two countries.
