KARACHI: The Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) CIRCLE organised the mentor meetup of its women economic empowerment and leadership development programme ‘Tech Karo’ at the UIT campus Karachi on Saturday.
The Tech Karo was launched by the CIRCLE in partnership with Engro Vopak Terminal Limited and UIT in 2017 and since then it has trained many women on tech craft to help them start their careers. It has also been regular mentors’ meetups to help undertraining women share their projects and aspirations with the leading figures from various industries.
“We aim at bringing women’s voices and ideas to the forefront and mobilise support from male leaders from corporate, social sector and the government,” said CIRCLE co-founder Sadaffe Abid. “Women’s economic empowerment and leadership development through advocacy, research, and innovative entrepreneurship and skills labs is the key priority of Tech Karo.
It is just the way are helped their skills on the handicrafts the Tech Karo focus on Tech4Empowerment under which they are equipped with training and necessary skills to start their career confidently. A tech hub has been set up at the UIT where all modern technological services are provided with qualified trainers.
Careem Regional Manager Asad Haider Khan highlighted the need for
technological skills to start and grow professionally. He said technology and particularly information technology has helped increase the number of women into employment these days and as more and more women are realising the need for acquiring information technology skills they becoming more competitive in the job market. It is also improving their standard of living.
Engro Vopak distributed laptops and later the programme was opened for discussion among the participants and mentors.
