UBG Core Committee nominates Sheikh Khalid Tawab as FPCCI Presidential Candidate.

United Business Group UBG Core Committee has nominated Sheikh Khalid Tawab, a prominent businessman from Sindh, as its presidential candidate for the 2021 annual election of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI). Abdul Rauf Mukhtar will be the senior vice-presidential candidate while the rest of the candidates will be decided in the next few days.

The decision was made by consensus at the group’s core committee meeting held at the residence of UBG Chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik.  Under the joint chairmanship of Patron in Chief SM Muneer and Iftikhar Ali Malik.

The meeting was attended by former presidents of Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Zabir Tufail, Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig Secretary General of United Business Group (UBG) Sindh and Leader of Business Community, Ghazanfar Bilour, Engineer Daru Khan, Abdul Rauf Alam, Tanvir Ahmad Sheikh, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Central Spokesperson Gulzar Feroze, Former Senior Vice Presidents Mazhar A. Nasir, Khalid Tawab, Amir Atabajuh, Shabnam Zafar, Hanif Gohar, Mumtaz Sheikh, Sohail Altaf, Riaz-ud-Din Sheikh, Zafar Bakhtawari, Abdul Sami Khan, Malik Sohail Hussain, Hameed Akhtar Chadha, Noor Ahmad Khan, Haji Afzal, Dr. Noman Butt, Shakeel Dhingra, Waqar Mian, Shaheen Ilyas Sarwana. Ahmed Chennai, Pir Nazim Hussain Shah, Asad Mashhadi, Almas Haider, Qazi Akbar, Chaudhry Zahid Iqbal, Khurram Aftab, Muhammad Yaseen, Zahidullah Shinwari, Haji Jamaluddin, Malik Manzoor Chaudhry Amjad, Ali Hussam and other members were present on the occasion.

Announcing the candidates of UBG for the upcoming Federation Chamber elections for the post of President and Senior Vice President, SM Muneer said that UBG has nominated eligible candidates for the Federation elections.

He said that we believe collective decisions which is why the group has won the confidence of 90% of the business community of the country by solving the problems of the business community. He said that Iftikhar Ali Malik is the lifeblood of UBG.

He said that the Businessmen’s Panel, has pushed the federation to the brink of collapse and now the Businessmen’s Panel is torn to pieces. About two dozen leaders of the Businessmen’s Panel have resigned. ?

He lauded the services of Shabnam Zafar, former vice-president of FPCCI, saying that she has stood by us and never tolerated any pressure.

Iftikhar Ali Malik expressed hope that the UBG nominees would maintain their solidarity and win the next FPCCI elections and solve the problems of the business community.

The year 2021 is very important for us because United Business Group would take steps to promote a business-friendly environment through the FPCCI platform to minimize distances between chambers, industry and government.

The FPCCI will also promote the role of the private sector in the country’s economic development.

He said that the business community was ready to extend all possible assistance to the government, adding that the problem of rising inflation could be solved by increasing production and reducing unnecessary expenditure.

Presidential candidate Khalid Tawab said that by succeeding, he would safeguard the interests of the business community and agitate their issues at all forums to get their issues resolve.
