Houston-TX: Turkish Community hosted an elegant Appreciation Dinner honoring Houston Iftar organizing Committee at their beautiful Rain Drop Turkish Center.
Turkish Community Vice President & Provost Faruk Taban welcomed the guests and paid a big tribute to the Houston Iftar Committee for organizing the largest and well-organized program which served Iftar dinner for almost 3000 community members. He also praised the Iftar event which brings Unity and peace among Houstonion’s.
Speaking on the occasion Coordinator of the organizing committee, Muhammad Saeed Sheikh paid tribute to the collaborative partner, Houston Istanbul Sister City Association’s Late President Ruhi Ozgel for his untiring efforts towards Houston Iftar during the last 10 years. He also thanked Vice President & Provost Faruk Taban, Ismail Ozcan, Orhan Osman, Mehmet Okumus, and all other Turkish friends for bestowing utmost respect and honor to all the members of the Organizing Committee. He also expressed special thanks to Honorable Mayor Sylvester Turner for his outstanding Support and Chief Patron Syed Javaid Anwar along with all the sponsors for their generosity including the hard work and cooperation of all collaborating partners.
President Murad Ajani of His Highness the Aga Khan Council for Southwestern US highlighted the importance of Muslim community integration to American Society, where Houston Iftar is playing a big role in promoting interfaith harmony.
President Haroon Sheikh of PAGH also endorsed the good work of the Committee for showcasing Cultural diversity.
Event Chair Ismail Ozcan thanked the guests for their participation and stated “I am honored to be part of this hardworking team of Houston Iftar since last three years under the leadership of dear respected brother Muhammad Saeed Sheikh”.
On this occasion, the Turkish Community presented a “Certificate of Appreciation” to Houston Iftar 2021 organizing Committee and the family of respected late Ruhi Ozgel.
A special live pre-recorded repeat transmission of the “Houston Virtual” Iftar program on TV-ONE was also part of the program.
