Tosha Khana case verdict: Election Commission disqualified Imran Khan

Verdict on the Tosha Khana case against Imran Khan will be pronounced tomorrow

While pronouncing the Tosha Khana case verdict, the Election Commission disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

A 5-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja gave a unanimous verdict in the Tosha Khana case.

What did the Election Commission say in the decision?

The Election Commission has said in its unanimous decision that we are of the opinion that Imran Khan is unqualified.

The decision of the Election Commission has said that Imran Khan is no longer a member of the National Assembly, his seat is declared vacant.

According to the decision of the Election Commission, Imran Khan has been disqualified under Article 63P of the Constitution.

The Election Commission has also decided to take legal action against Imran Khan.

Fawad Chaudhry, Asad Umar were stopped at the gate

PTI leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry, Asad Umar, Faisal Javed, Shireen Mazari and Malika Bukhari reached the Election Commission on the occasion of the Tosha Khana case verdict.

On this occasion, Fawad Chaudhry and Asad Umar were stopped at the gate of Election Commission.

Lathi charge on PTI workers

PTI workers also reached the Election Commission in large numbers, but the police lathi-charged them and sent them back.

An important meeting of the Election Commission was held at 11 o’clock

The important meeting called by the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja regarding the Tosha Khana reference on behalf of the Election Commission was held at 11 o’clock.

During the meeting, the Islamabad administration gave a briefing to the Election Commission regarding security.

In the meeting, a consultation was also held on the decision of the Tosha Khana reference.

In the briefing, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja was told that Rangers, FC and police personnel have been deployed in large numbers for security.

1100 personnel deployed for security

On the occasion of the decision of the Tosha Khana reference, tight security was deployed around the Election Commission under the supervision of the SSP.

1150 officials including 1 SSP, 5 SPs, 6 DSPs were appointed in the Election Commission and its surroundings.

Entry into the red zone was restricted today, while the entry of non-related persons into the Election Commission was closed.

Tear gas shells were delivered to the Election Commission

On the occasion of the decision of the Tosha Khana case, the Islamabad administration delivered tear gas shells to the Election Commission.

Tear gas shells were deployed in anticipation of possible protests by PTI workers.

It should be noted that in this regard, the Election Commission had asked the Islamabad administration for fool-proof security.

The Election Commission said that there is a fear of PTI workers gathering at the time of the decision, so Rangers and FC personnel should also be deployed for security.

What is Tosha Khana Reference?

Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Mohsin Ranjha and other MNAs submitted the Tosha Khana reference against Chairman PTI Imran Khan to the Speaker National Assembly on July 4. The Speaker sent this reference to the Election Commission under Article 63 in August. what was

In the reference, it was held that former Prime Minister Imran Khan deliberately hid the gifts received and purchased from Toshakha and did not disclose these gifts even in the details of assets submitted to the Election Commission.

In the reference, it was pleaded that Imran Khan had sold the gifts received from the coffin and had not disclosed it in the returns, disqualifying him under Article 62 1F of the Constitution.

Imran Khan’s Answer

On the other hand, Imran Khan, in response to the Tosha Khana case, took a stand that the reference of the petitioner and the Speaker is malicious and baseless, it has political motives, I did not hide the gifts of Tosha Khana in the assets.

He stated that when I was the Prime Minister, 58 gifts were given to me and my wife, I jointly paid Rs. Held, the income from the sale of these gifts to the tune of Rs 5.8 million was declared in the income tax returns.

Reply to Imran Khan’s position

In response to Imran Khan’s position, it was said that the 4 gifts were not with Imran Khan as of June 30, 2019, they were sold during the previous financial year, so they were not disclosed in assets, however their sale. The amount was received in the bank.

Ali Zafar, Imran Khan’s lawyer in the Election Commission, argued that if someone has not disclosed the assets, then the Speaker does not send a reference, the Election Commission can take action on its own and this action has to be done within 120 days. There is no authority to disqualify anyone.

Mohsin Ranjha’s lawyer Khalid Ishaq took the stand that Imran Khan did not declare his assets in Form B, he is guilty of corrupt practices, the Election Commission should disqualify Imran Khan.

The Election Commission had reserved the Tosha Khana reference decision on September 19, which was pronounced today on October 21.
