Italy: Turin’s Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory was filled with a unique blend of music and cinema on Saturday night as the FARO Foundation presented “The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog” accompanied by a live performance of Ezio Bosso’s haunting score. The event, organized to raise funds for FARO’s assistance service, featured the Turin String Quartet bringing Alfred Hitchcock’s classic silent film to life through music.
“The Lodger,” considered Hitchcock’s first true film, tells the story of a mysterious lodger suspected of being a serial killer. The quartet’s performance added a new dimension to the film, enhancing its suspenseful atmosphere and highlighting its noir aesthetics.
Ezio Bosso’s music, known for its emotional depth and empathy, resonated with the film’s themes of mystery and intrigue. Bosso’s score, performed live for the audience, captured the tension and drama of Hitchcock’s storytelling, creating a captivating and immersive experience.
The event not only celebrated the artistry of Bosso and Hitchcock but also supported FARO’s mission of providing specialized palliative care. All proceeds from the evening will go towards FARO’s efforts to offer compassionate end-of-life care to patients and their families.
The combination of Hitchcock’s masterful storytelling, Bosso’s evocative music, and the Turin String Quartet’s exceptional performance made “The Lodger” a truly unforgettable experience for all in attendance.
