KARACHI – Salaam Takaful Limited, the largest dedicated general takaful operator and the only Shariah Compliant Insurtech in Pakistan has taken yet another unprecedented initiative by establishing a Shariah Board with representation from all leading Islamic schools of thought. The first meeting was held with the agenda to set a tone for the board, its objectives and performance. The aim is to uphold the true essence of takaful and achieve the ultimate level of shariah compliance through the guidance of this board. Moreover, it is expected that this board will assist in further product innovation, achievement of process excellence and implementation of best practices within the confines of Shariah, which eventually will produce more value for all stakeholders.
The coveted shariah board comprises of the following dignitaries:
- Dr. Mufti Irshad Ahmad Aijaz, Chairman.
- Ayatullah Sheikh Shabbir Hasan Lakhani (Maisami), Member.
- Dr. Mufti Muhammad Yunas Ali, Member.
- Mufti Sajjad Ashraf Usmani, Shariah Advisor.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Rizwan Hussain, the MD and CEO of Salaam Takaful Limited stated, “where we are leaving no stone unturned for digitization of our processes and marching towards the direction of cementing our position as the only Shariah Compliant Insurtech in Pakistan, this development of a Shariah Board was the order of the day. Association of all makatib-e-fikr was our primary desire and I am grateful to all board members who not only supported the ideation but also are here on the table to create history and help make us become an example for all shariah compliant organizations in Pakistan.”
