The first lady of Pakistan Samina Alvi has urged the business community to play its role for the inclusion of differently abled people in economic process and to support their skill development endeavors. She was addressing a meeting arranged by the Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) here on Saturday. Patron in Chief of KATI SM Mnuneer, President Saleem-uz-Zaman , Chairman and CEO KITE Zubair Chhaya , Senior Vice President Zaki Sharif , Vice President Nighat Awan and head of KATI’s standing committee on Differently abled people Maheen Salman also expressed their views on this occasion.
The first lady said that disabled people were the most ignored people of our society even in our public infrastructure their needs were not considered. She said that along with President in a meeting with Governor SBP, unavailability of ramps for differently-abled people in banks all over the country. She informed that Governor SBP has assured that initiatives to facilitate differently-abled people would be taken soon. The first lady said that industrialist community should play its role to facilitate and provide employment to differently abled people. She said special people don’t get jobs even after their designated quota in government jobs and those who get any position were not being encouraged. She said that industrialists can play their role for the welfare of special people by providing them employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
SM Muneer said that we fully support the sacred mission of the first lady for the welfare of special people. He said that price hike is the biggest challenge to the government and for last few days measures taken by PM Khan has resulted on reduction of food prices. He said that business community rejects all statements to malign Armed forces of Pakistan. He said that great sacrifices of our defense forces ensured the prosperity and integrity of this country. President of KATI Saleem-uz-Zaman said that a comprehensive policy frame work is the need of time to provide education, training and employment to the special people to make them part of the economic process of the country. He said that for their inclusion industry can play a vital role and KATI is ready to play its best part. He also shared that in accordance of the initiatives taken by the First Lady, KATI has established a standing committee on affairs related to differently abled people, headed by Maheen Salman. Head of newly founded committee, Maheen Salman briefed the meeting about suggestions and recommendation of KATI to provide employment and inclusive opportunity to special people. Former presidents of KATI Zahid Saeed, Gulzar Firoz, Ehtishamuddin, leader of PTI Samir Mir Shaikh and others also attended the occasion.
