Karachi (Staff Reporter) A conference was organized by Karachi Psychiatric Hospital on the occasion of World Mental Illness Day at Karachi Press Club in which psychiatrist and MD Karachi Psychiatric Hospital Dr. Syed Abdul Rehman, COO Syed Khursheed Jawad, Chairperson Kausar Parveen, senior psychiatrist Dr. Akhtar Farid Siddiqui, senior psychologist Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, senior psychologist Roohi Afroz and other psychiatrists, professors and doctors also participated. World Mental Illness Day is celebrated on October 10 across the world including Pakistan, with the aim of raising awareness among the public about mental illnesses and raising awareness for their treatment. Addressing the press conference, psychiatrist and MD Karachi Psychiatric Hospital Dr. Syed Abdul Rehman said that mental health is a basic human need, ignoring which can have serious consequences at the social and individual levels He said that mental illnesses are increasing rapidly in Pakistan, due to which the trend of divorce, suicide and drug use among the youth is increasing rapidly in the society, one of the main reasons of which is distance from religion and it is necessary that we talk openly on this subject so that awareness is increased among the public and timely treatment and guidance can be provided to the affected people. Dr. Syed Abdul Rehman further said that quarrels between children and parents, husband and wife and in-laws in the homes are also the result of mental stress, anxiety and depression.
All these diseases are treatable. All that is needed is that the patients and families should approach psychologists instead of being ashamed or afraid so that a healthy and balanced society can be formed, for which the government of the day and the eminent scholars should play their role because our religion teaches patience, tolerance and tolerance. He said that men, women, girls and the elderly should promote mutual understanding and brotherhood among themselves and form the best society with love. Serving the elderly brings the pleasure of the Lord. On this occasion, Syed, COO of Karachi Psychiatric Hospital Khurshid Jawad said that the department is continuously engaged in public awareness and welfare activities to promote mental health He is engaged in awareness and welfare activities. He said that the treatment of mental illnesses is not only possible with medicine but also with the encouragement of the patient, a positive environment and sincerity. Syed Khursheed Jawad emphasized that all sections of the society should come together and take mental health issues seriously. He said that Karachi Psychiatric Hospital is providing all possible services for this purpose with its team of expert doctors and psychologists. Syed Khursheed Jawad further said that the aim of Karachi Psychiatric Hospital is not only to provide treatment but also to establish an environment where patients feel safe and empowered.
He said that eliminating misconceptions about mental health is the need of the hour, because these diseases can affect a person of any age or class. He said that the institution is on a mission to create mental balance and awareness in the society with modern medical facilities, experienced experts and compassionate attitude. At the press conference, Chairperson Kausar Parveen said that mental health should be given as much importance as physical health, because the two are closely related to each other. He said that in our society, mental health is a major issue. Diseases are generally ignored, which is a worrying trend. Kausar Parveen emphasized that by creating awareness among the public, we can make timely treatment of many mental illnesses possible. She said that Karachi Psychiatric Hospital has always been on the mission of providing people with peace of mind, confidence and a better life.
