Karachi : The inaugural IoBM Super League (ISL 2024), an inter-university cricket tournament hosted by the Institute of Business Management, concluded in thrilling fashion on November 28. In a nail-biting final, the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) defeated IoBM, with a narrow 6-run victory to claim the first ISL Champions Trophy in a dramatic finish. Held from November 18 to 28, 2024, ISL 2024 brought together eight university cricket teams from across Karachi in a thrilling series of 15 fiercely contested matches. The teams included KASBIT, Salim Habib University, Denning University, FAST, MITE, and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law (SZABUL). Organized by IoBM’s Students and Sports Affairs Department, the tournament featured live-streamed matches on IoBM’s YouTube channel, complete with professional commentary, on-screen graphics, on-ground analysis, and interviews. The pool matches and semi-finals were held at the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy, while the much-anticipated final took place at the Naya Nazimabad Cricket Ground, showcasing some of the finest young talent in the city.
The cricket tournament concluded with several outstanding performances being recognized. Mujtaba Suleman (IBA) received the Man of the Match award, Maheer Ahmed (IBA) was named Best Bowler, and Muhammad Imran (IoBM) earned the Best Fielder title. Harris Bin Tahir (Denning University of Law) was awarded Best Batsman, while Bilal Khalid, the IoBM captain, was honored as the Player of the Tournament. The inaugural IoBM Super League (ISL 2024) also aligned its activities with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event promoted SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) by encouraging physical activity and supporting mental wellness. It reinforced SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing young athletes opportunities to develop skills and foster teamwork. SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) was embodied in the tournament’s inclusive nature, uniting diverse teams. Furthermore, ISL 2024 advanced SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by engaging global and regional audiences through live streaming and social media.
