The 10th Session of Pakistan – Kazakhstan Inter-governmental Joint Commission (IJC) was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 23 November 20021. The event was followed by “Pakistan – Kazakhstan Business Opportunity Forum’ on 24th and 25th November 2021 jointly organized by USAID and Ministry of Commerce, & Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.
The IJC and Business Forum are important events designed to enhance cooperation in the fields of trade, investments and others important sectors of mutual interests.
Mr. Muhammad Zubair Asghar Qureshi, Additional Secretary EAD, Government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan was leading the Pakistani side, whereas Mr. TOREBAYEV Kairat Kalmukametovich, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Republic of Kazakhstan was leading the Kazakhstan side.
The discussions focused on bilateral engagements on trade and investment, cooperation in energy, agriculture, tourism, logistics, I.T., and people-to-people contacts. In the Pakistan – Kazakhstan Business opportunity Forum around 35 leading companies from Textile, Agro Food, Sports Goods, Surgical Instruments, Engineering Goods and I.T sectors are participating. The representatives of companies have been apprised of the trade potential between both the countries in different sectors along with different options of transportations of Goods from Pakistan to Kazakhstan and vice versa.
The arrangements of B2B meetings have been made and representatives of Pakistani companies will meet the representatives of Kazakhstan companies to discuss business deals. The representatives of Pakistani companies are also scheduled to visit Almaty Industrial Zone to meet the management’s of the companies and physically experience the facilities available for enhancement of trade and investment.
Besides this, both the sides agree to carry out further trade promotion and investment activities in future and MoU on Agricultural Cooperation between both the friendly countries will be signed shortly.
