TURIN, Italy – Downtown Turin witnessed a tense evening as conflicting protests unfolded regarding the University of Turin’s decision to terminate a collaboration bid with Israeli universities. A scheduled demonstration against the decision at the Rectorate on Via Po was met with a counter-protest by a group of students supporting UniTo’s choice.
The second group, carrying pro-Palestine banners and chanting slogans, was blocked by law enforcement, leading to clashes and preventing them from reaching the initial protest.
The events unfolded amidst a rainy backdrop in Turin, adding to the charged atmosphere.
