April 2025 has brought relief for consumers in Pakistan, as the prices of solar panels, UPS systems, and batteries have seen a notable decline.
Market sources report a significant price cut of Rs 20,000 in lithium batteries, bringing the cost down from Rs 400,000 to Rs 380,000. Similarly, tubular batteries have become more affordable, with prices dropping from Rs 70,000 to Rs 55,000—a reduction of Rs 15,000.
Solar panel prices have also dipped, now standing at Rs 28 per watt. Experts attribute this decline to a surge in imports and supportive government policies.
Federal Minister Owais Leghari revealed that Pakistan imported 8,000 MW worth of solar panels last year and is now working on establishing local manufacturing plants for solar inverters and related equipment to strengthen domestic production.
Given the country’s high electricity costs and frequent power outages, many households are turning to solar energy as a practical and necessary alternative.
