Pressure is growing in Europe against Elon Musk’s social media platform X and its artificial intelligence-based chatbot Grok. According to a global news agency, the Irish Data Protection Commission has launched a formal investigation into Elon Musk’s chatbot under the European Union’s strict data protection laws. A statement issued by the Irish regulator said the investigation would focus on whether the platform violated laws protecting the personal data of European users. The Data Protection Commission of Ireland will investigate this matter under the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation because X’s European headquarters are located in Dublin. It should be noted that the Irish regulator has enforcement powers across the bloc. Violations of the rules can result in hefty fines.
