Chairman of National Business Group Pakistan, President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, and All Karachi Industrial Alliance, and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Thursday said industrial sector should get continued supply of gas and other services for the industrial sector as frequent disruption is hitting industrial activity.
He said that repeated increase in the gas tariff is damaging the economy which should be considered.
Mian Zahid Hussain said this while speaking at a ceremony held in honour of MD SSGC Imran Maniar. DIG South Javed AKhar Qazi, DMD SSGC Saeed Ahmed Larik, Imran Farkhi, former CM Balochistan Allouddin Mari, Pro Vice Chancellor DHA Suffa University Dr. Brig. Ahmed Sayeed, Dean DHA Suffa University Dr. Bashir were also present at the occasion.
Industrialists said that disruption in gas supply is damaging economic activities which is reflecting in production and exports.
Provision of gas, electricity and water is essential for industrial development which will boost employment and revenue while scarcity of energy leads to loss of jobs and poverty.
Mian Zahid Hussain said that development of the country is linked to industrialisation while frequent suspension in supply of gas is hampering the progress.
He said that LNG is being purchased at the highest possible rates which is increasing cost of doing business while CNG stations are being closed in summer leaving this sectors in tatters.
Issues of industrialists should be resolved so that national development and foreign investment could be ensured, he said adding that flowery statement cannot resolve the problems of industrialist community.
Mian Zahid Hussain said that LNG supply chain is facing many problems and hurdles and the prices are volatile therefore the government should take note of the situation is fix problems which are resulting in restlessness among consumers.
Speaking to the business community, MD SSGC Imran Maniar assured that the problems of the business community will be resolved on preference so that they can play their positive role in the national development.
He said that SSGC will improve delivery of services and pricing issues would be resolved soon and services for the industrial sector will be provided.
Leaders of the business community including industrialists Shaukat Hussain, Anjum Shahzad, Tauseef Sehgal, Khurram Khalil Nanitalwala, Zaheer Allana, Abid Aslam Wahab, Sheikh Muhammad Shafiq, Rehan Mehtab Chawla, KM Pervaiz, Rashid Maqbool, Asim Shakoor Rana, Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui, Mian Abdul Haq Jatoi, Syed Turab Shah, Aamir Shafiq also attended the ceremony.
