Anwar Haider said that the Pakistan Post was an important organization which was being used by the middle class and lower middle class for the sending and receiving their couriers and parcels.

The Advisor regretted that the activities of Post Office had been greatly reduced as earlier the Post Office used to sell saving certificates, prize bonds, disbursement of pensions and others, but now the organization has been limited to the postal service only.

He said that there was a dire need to make the institutions efficient. Currently, the concerned official found guilty of misplacing the parcel or courier is imposed fine of Rs. 1000, which has negatively affected the business of post office. Due to this situation, private courier services are taking advantage.

Syed Anwar Haider said those involved in negligence of misplacing the parcels or couriers should not be fined only, rather they should also be arrested and sent to jail so that the public trust on Post Office could be regained.

He said there was need to increase the compensation amount of uninsured parcel.
