KARACHI (January 30, 2026): Senator Waqar Mehdi, General Secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh chapter, has said that the provincial government has formally requested the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court to constitute a judicial commission to investigate the Gul Plaza tragedy, and affirmed that all those found responsible will be given strict punishment in accordance with the commission’s findings.
He expressed these views while speaking to the media after attending the funeral prayers of two martyrs of the Gul Plaza incident in the Gulbahar area. Senator Waqar Mehdi further said that the Pakistan Peoples Party’s provincial government stands firmly with the affected families and will not abandon the victims of the Gul Plaza tragedy.
Meanwhile, Senator Waqar Mehdi also participated in the joint funeral prayers of Bilal Shaheed and Faizan Shaheed, who lost their lives in the tragic Gul Plaza incident. The funeral prayers were offered at Muhammadi Mosque near Zamindar Hotel. Senator Waqar Mehdi expressed his heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the bereaved families, sharing in their grief and sorrow.
