Revolutionizing Pakistan’s Gaming Industry: One Step at a Time
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

KARACHI – Social media in Pakistan has revolutionized everything from daily lifestyles to career orientations enabling individuals to pursue their talents while achieving significant remuneration as well as a spotlight for their efforts. Short-form video sharing platforms are the ones gaining rapid steam in the national digital media sphere enabling people to rise from more diverse backgrounds to new heights of fame and financial independence.

There are numerous success stories that have come to light in the past thanks to emerging platforms like Likee, a Singapore-based short video sharing app that has become extensively popular amongst the masses in Pakistan. The platform has a unique business model that rewards creators across diverse categories for creating quality content that audiences enjoy.

Muhammad Mubeen is one such example specifically from the gaming community. Hailing from Badin, the 24-year-old creator is active on different social media platforms including YouTube and Instagram as well. With more than 800,000 subscribers on YouTube and a following of 156K and counting on Instagram, he is redefining the way online gaming is perceived in the country. He is followed by more than a million people on Likee.

Mubeen comes from a humble background. He had a government job that paid him PKR 12,000 a month. However, that was never his ambition. He was an avid gamer since the beginning and started it as a hobby. This is when his brother told him about a recently emerging game called Free Fire, a battle royale game that was the most downloaded in 2019. He first began streaming from his courtyard as he had no proper equipment for the purpose.

Today, Mubeen is able to afford a comfortable lifestyle for himself and his family all through the success and fame that he received through social media. He was able to leave his job behind and embrace something that he felt passionate about creating a diverse portfolio for himself while providing for his family at the same time.

“I come from extremely humble beginnings. I had witnessed people finding recognition on social media but I had never realized the true potential of these platforms till I became a part of it myself. Platforms like Likee formed a cornerstone of the success that I have amassed today and my life today is a dream come true. I put in the efforts and was rewarded handsomely for my hard work which is sometimes rare but it demonstrates the power that digital media holds today,” Muneeb commented on his journey.

Mubeen is just one of the numerous stories scattered across the social media universe which stands to show that anything is possible especially with respect to the world we live in today. Digital platforms are revolutionizing various aspects particularly gaming and esports. As the trend continues, this landscape is bound to grow and diversify even further bringing more opportunities for people to rise and shatter the glass ceilings holding them down.
