Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umran , expressing his satisfaction on PTI government’s performance over last three years, said now the country has stable economy with sustained growth rate which is accelerating with the passage of time.
Before end of its five-year term, Asad Umer said,PTI government under the leadership of Prime Minister will provide the best set of polocies and strong economic base to the country , which will yield the best results in future if rightly managed by next governments.
With boost to the construction and housing industry, forty other related industries will also get momentum leading to creation of big number of jobs for skilled and non-skilled manpower, the Federal Minister said while speaking at a dinner reception for the officials and members of Council of Economic and Energy Journalists (CEEJ) Karachi, which was hosted by Vice President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and former chairman Association of Builders and Developers Pakistan, Arif Jewa.
ABAD Chairman Fayyaz Ilyas, Patron-in-Chief Mohsin Sheikhani, CEEJ President Raja Kamran, Secretary Kashif Munir, Group Leader of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sohail Altaf, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sardar Yasir Ilyas, former deputy mayor Shani Shah and President National Press Club. Asad Umar further said the decisions taken for the country’s economy had direct impact on the people and it would be very beneficial to provide correct information about these decisions.
” We welcome establishment of Council of Economic and Energy Journalists,” he appreciated adding that such an organized professional journalistic body was the need of the time.
Pakistan was moving towards economic growth and further improvement would be witnessed in near future.
“ Artificial economic growth does not benefit to win elections and PTI government will not adopt this approach,” he remarked.
He said the common man’s income was improving, capacity of productive sector was also increasing.
The Minister for Planning praised ABAD role in promoting the construction and housing sector, strengthening the economy and in the country’s policy making.
Vice President FPCCI Arif Jewa expressed confidence that CEEJ would guide the business community in making important decisions related to business and investment.
He said that a way should be found to avoid losses to the construction industry, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan should take notice of the high cost of cement and other construction materials.
ABAD’s Patron-in-Chief Mohsin Sheikhani said the business community should point out the issues and irritants to trade and investment, and come up with its calculated and practical suggestions.
President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sardar Yasir Ilyas said that the chamber submitted its recommendations– which were formulated in consultation with Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and other trade bodies of the country – through Zulfi Bukhari to reach out Prime Minister Imran Khan who extended his support these proposals. Now, they are going to be implemented.
He expressed his satisfaction that the government was going to reduce taxes and duties by 50 percent to promote tourism, which would help bring more local and foreign investment. The improved tourism facilities would attract big number of foreign tourists who would add to the country’s foreign exchange.
Council of Economic and Energy Journalists’ President Raja Kamran and Secretary Kashif Munir outlined the objectives of the council and assured their full cooperation in the best interest of the country.
