Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic crash of an Air India aircraft near Ahmedabad.
In a message shared on the social media platform X on Thursday, the Prime Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families affected by this devastating loss.
He stated that the thoughts and prayers of the Pakistani nation are with all those impacted by the tragedy.
The ill-fated Air India Flight 171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members when it crashed shortly after departing from Ahmedabad. The plane was headed to London’s Gatwick Airport.
Initial reports indicate that the aircraft went down in a residential area close to Ahmedabad Airport. Authorities have yet to provide official details regarding the number of casualties or the cause of the crash.
