Saifuddin Sheikh, Executive Director of Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) said on Sunday that the conspiracy to destroy Pakistan economically, politically, and defensively by making it hostile towards China has been foiled.
The attack on PTV and Parliament House in 2013 was aimed at gaining power and sabotaging the visit of the President of China, he said.
After that, the head of a political gang started conspiracies against CPEC and in violation of the agreement handed over the complete details of the project to the IMF, which angered China, he added.
Saifuddin Sheikh said in a statement issued here today that when the current government and the COAS removed China’s reservations and assured the speedy completion of CPEC, the same gang repeated its conspiracy by creating an atmosphere of civil war in the country.
The protests were repeated with more intensity the day after the visit of the Chinese foreign minister, but the conspiracy was foiled by timely action.
Saifuddin Sheikh has said that China’s influence in the region is continuously increasing, the Middle East and Gulf countries are also getting closer to China to leave the US, and now the US has no friend except India in the region to confront China.
Therefore, an arsonist group was used to push Pakistan to the anti-China camp, but their plot has been foiled.
Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir has assured the Chinese leadership to complete the CPEC and provide security for it, and a satisfied Beijing has announced the project of laying a railway line worth fifty-eight billion dollars from Kashgar to Gwadar.
Apart from this, the relations between Pakistan, Russia, and Iran are improving, the Iran gas pipeline is being revived, the proposal of mutual trade through trains among Islamabad, Tehran, and Istanbul is under consideration; and the Road to Mecca is becoming a reality, which is not acceptable to the western powers.
