Khairpur: A One-Day Seminar on Harmony Hub: Embracing Inter-Sectarian Diversity was held at the Students Societies Centre, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized by the Peace Flex in collaboration with Peace and Harmony Society of University. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor presided over the seminar.
While talking to the participants, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said it needs time to pursue the path of peaceful co-existence in our society in line with the Islamic injunction because Islam is the religion of peace, tolerance, and harmony. I am optimistic that our students will strive against militant tendencies and extremism in society. He said We are proud that our University has introduced the core subject Social & Religious Tolerance in the Faculty of Social Sciences to create an environment for diversity and acceptance.
Dr. Sahib Oad, Assistant Professor, Department of Media & Communication Studies shared his views on the role of the media in controlling intolerance in society. He said the media could play a pivotal role in the promotion of sectarian harmony in the society.
Mr. Riaz Ahmed Manglo, Civil Society Activist and Founder Director Taleem Dan said that the contribution of civil society is remarkable in promoting inter-sectarian harmony in Pakistan. He said the region is marked by diversified religious beliefs, cultures, traditions, fostering unity and understanding among different sects is not just a matter of choice, it is necessary for peace progress.
Ms. Shumaila Rabab Rizvi, Focal Person, Peace Flex appreciated the endeavor of the Vice Chancellor to promote healthy activities at the campus. The Peace Flex Organization is playing its due role for the promotion of inter-sectarian diversity.
Mr. Ali Raza Lashari, Incharge Students Societies Centre said that scholars, religious leaders, and community members from various sects come together to engage in constructive discussions, discourse, and dialogue because these platforms have proven instrumental in building trust among communities.
Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences accorded a vote of thanks to all participants of the seminar.
