Karachi: An Oman Air plane that was scheduled to fly from Muscat to India was forced to land in Karachi on Wednesday following the deterioration of a passenger’s health. It was a flight bound for Calicut International Airport in Kerala, having more than 150 passengers on board at the time of the medical incident.
A passenger traveling from India had a serious and unplanned medical emergency, so the crew had to ask for an emergency landing. It eventually landed at Karachi Airport safely without any hazards, and the team acted appropriately according to protocols.
At this level, the CAA and the Federal Ministry of Health were soon informed and readied to offer support. Also, present was a team of medical professionals that was ready to attend to the needs of the injured passenger.
The fast reaction of both the crew and the teams on the ground also portrayed the importance of standard operating procedures in aviation to ensure that passengers can get the right medical attention and that such incidents are handled with concern and as safely as possible. The incident further emphasises the need for compliance and partner to respond to any unforeseen in-flight crisis.
