The Lahore Zoo has awarded a Rs500 million contract to a private firm, outsourcing services like parking and ticket management after a competitive bidding process. The reserve price was set at Rs320 million, and the second-highest bid reached Rs480 million. This follows a similar outsourcing initiative at the Lahore Safari Zoo.
The outsourced services include entry ticket management, parking for Mall Road and Lawrence Road, and attractions such as the aquarium, aviary, snake house, walk-through aviary, virtual reality, and zoo holograms. Ticket prices for these facilities are as follows:
- Zoo entry: Rs100
- Aquarium: Rs100
- Snake house: Rs200
- Walk-through aviary: Rs100
- Mixed reality: Rs100
- Virtual reality: Rs200
- Zoo holograms: Rs300
- Parking fees: Additional charges apply
Mudassir Hassan explained that the contractor will handle the upkeep of facilities and the care and feeding of birds, reptiles, and fish in designated areas. The zoo administration will continue managing the medical care and feeding of other animals and birds. Parking and ticketing operations will be managed by the contractor’s staff, while zoo staff will oversee other responsibilities.
