KARACHI: Popular theatre actress Shanzay is set to return to the stage as Kunwari Maa moves from Karachi to Hyderabad following a successful run at the Arts Council Karachi.
Written, directed and produced by Nasir Khan, the classical stage drama will be presented at Mehran Arts Council, Hyderabad, on September 9 and 10.
Shanzay, who has earned recognition for her lead performance in the play, previously attracted strong audience appreciation during its Karachi shows.
Karachi Success Leads to Hyderabad
Kunwari Maa was earlier staged at the Open Air Theatre of the Arts Council Karachi.

The production drew full-house audiences and received an enthusiastic response from theatregoers. Its popularity helped establish the play as one of the notable stage productions presented in the city.
Nasir Khan has now decided to take the production to Hyderabad, giving audiences there an opportunity to watch the acclaimed drama.
Strong Cast Joins Shanzay
The play features a large ensemble cast, including Zakir Mastana, Shakeel Shah, Kamal Idris, Faiza Malik, Shahbaz Sanam, Abdullah Lala, Zohaib Sanam, Tahira Khan, Shamail, Irma Ahmed, Ashraf Chiragh and Nadeem.
Irma Ahmed also received considerable appreciation for her performance during the Karachi shows.
The production combines experienced theatre performers with a story designed to engage audiences while addressing a sensitive social issue.

Written and directed by Nasir Khan, Kunwari Maa follows the story of a young woman who faces difficult choices after circumstances force her into challenging situations.
