Karachi : A sports festival was organized by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department of Sindh in Ghotki at Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Mehar Sports Complex on the occasion of Independence Day and the struggle for justice. The ceremony began with the singing of the national anthem and the national flag of Pakistan was also hoisted. Major Usman Younus, Assistant Commissioner Ghotki Naveed Ali Khokhar, Deputy Director Sports Mir Muhammad Kalhoro, District Sports Officer Nisar Ahmed Chandio, Hameed-ur-Rehman, senior journalist Zafar Ahmed Siddiqui and others participated in the ceremony. Various types of sports were organized in the sports festival. The citizens thoroughly enjoyed the event, while the final match of the two-day Inter-Division Girls’ Ring Ball Championship Tournament was played between Sukkur and Shaheed Benazirabad. In which, after a brilliant competition, the Sukkur team defeated Shaheed Benazirabad to win the competition, while Karachi Division secured third position, after which the closing ceremony was held. In which Major Usman Younis, Assistant Commissioner Naveed Ali Khokhar distributed trophies, medals and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up teams of various sports at the end of the 4-day sports festival. Speaking to the media on this occasion, District Sports Officer Nisar Ahmed Chandio said that on the special instructions of Provincial Sports Minister Chief Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mehar and Secretary Sports Munawar Ali Mahesar, various sports were organized in Ghotki district on the occasion of Independence Day and the Battle of Haq. In the closing ceremony, prizes were distributed among the winning and runner-up teams. He said that these events are being celebrated to celebrate the brilliant success of the Pakistan Army in Operation Battle of Haq and Bunyan Al-Marsoos and to raise the head of the country and nation with pride.
