The body of the driver of the car that was washed away in the rainy relay on the Malir Link Road during the heavy rains that continued for a week in Karachi and its surroundings was found today after 12 days.
In this tragic incident, 6 more people including husband and wife and 4 children were killed.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Malir Irfan Ali Bahadur, the driver, a resident of Hyderabad, was taking 6 members of a family from Karachi to Hyderabad when he was on his way to Motorway M9 when the rainy Raila river bridge overflowed from the main highway. It was happening.
He said that in the meantime the car driver was prevented from going forward by the residents of the area but he did not stop and as soon as the car went into the relay, the rapid flow of water washed away all the 7 people on board including the car.
According to SSP Malir, the bodies of the car occupants were recovered from different places of the Malir river in stages.
He further said that the body of the missing driver of the car, Abdur Rehman, was found stuck in the bushes of the river about 7 kilometers away from the spot today (Monday) morning.
Irfan Ali Bahadur has also said that the body has been shifted to the hospital after recovery while the driver’s family has been informed in Hyderabad.
