K Electric has announced a revised load shedding schedule, which has come into effect from Friday, July 1. According to a spokesman for K Electric, the move is aimed at providing relief at night to consumers living in high-risk areas due to power outages.
Due to rising temperatures and declining fuel supply, the shortfall in electric-serviced areas, which used to be 250 to 350 MW, has now increased to 450 to 500 MW, so load shedding has to be done even at night.
The spokesperson said that the move was taken after mutual consultation with various stakeholders, including the Sindh Ministry of Energy and Commissioner Karachi.
