CANDIOLO: The IRCCS Candiolo Institute has unveiled its latest advancements in cancer care with the opening of a new Emergency Room and plans for a cutting-edge Biobank. This project, a collaboration between the institute, the Piedmont Region, and the Piedmont Foundation for Cancer Research, represents a significant step forward in enhancing patient care and research capabilities.
The new Emergency Room, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including twenty rooms designed for cancer patients with acute medical complications, aims to provide specialized care to oncology patients. The strategic partnership with the Regional Health Service’s Azienda Zero ensures that the facility can cater to patients from external healthcare facilities.
In addition to the Emergency Room, the institute is developing a Biobank dedicated to cancer research. With an investment of 8 million euros, this Biobank will be the largest of its kind in Italy and Europe. It will collect and store human biological material, enabling advanced studies on cancer and the development of new treatment solutions. The Biobank is scheduled for completion by 2025.
Furthermore, the institute will soon receive a second Tomotherapy machine from the United States, a state-of-the-art device that reduces treatment times and enhances precision in cancer therapy.
These advancements underscore the IRCCS Candiolo Institute’s commitment to providing exceptional care and driving innovation in cancer research.
