KARACHI – Every 10 seconds child dies of hunger, while globally we waste 1.3 billion tons of food therefore when Haque Academy’s students Rida Farrukh, Mahnoor Farid, Mustafa Naqvi, Ayman Jafri, and Isa Shaikh from 11th Grade realized this, they decided to launch an awareness campaign as a part of their initiative to stop food wastage as it leads to bigger issues such as Hunger/Food Insecurity, the “’ WNWN’ (Waste Not, Want Not)”, with the slogan Don’t Waste What You Don’t Want.
‘WNWN’ is a campaign that they have created to spread awareness on the issue of food wastage. Their aim is focused on spreading the importance of saving food as it can cause food insecurity and hunger.
One of their objectives is to raise awareness and to change the perception of people who don’t consider food wastage as a serious issue. They did that by conducting interviews and surveys, with locals and citizens from different countries which helped us understand the difference between the national and global significance of food wastage leading to food insecurity. They even made a petition and if you sign it, it will really help them. Along with that, there is also a survey which if you answered will also help them.

They also raised awareness through their Instagram page. [https://www.instagram.com/wastenotwantnot.pk/]
Through their page, they are focused on raising awareness through informative posts. They conducted polls online, had interactive activities such as bingo, and encouraged their followers to make changes.
There’s a statement the Waste Not Want Not (WNWN) team gave which is “We are honored to be featured at The AZB Daily. We are a group of students who are trying to highlight the importance of food wastage and how it leads to bigger issues like food insecurity. WNWN organization aims to bring awareness and play its part in solving this issue and you can too, by signing and sharing our petition, filling our survey, and following our Instagram page. So play your part and help us in our fight against food wastage.”
Thank You and Regards – WNWN Organization Team.
