KARACHI: Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor here Sunday asked that the case of the great freedom fighter hero, Pir Pagara Sabghatullah Shah Rashdi should be revisited by the courts on the pattern of the revisiting of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto hanging case.
He said the Hur Movement was the most powerful resistance movement against the British occupiers in India but our new generation knows too little about it. He said the successive governments in Pakistan have failed to highlight the achievements of Hur Movement and remember its great heroes. He said the government should announce a national holiday on the martyrdom anniversary of Soreh Badshah on March 20. He said we still do not know the last resting place of Soreh Badshah and the government of Pakistan should ask the British government to disclose the last resting place of the Pir Pagara.
He said that the sacrifices of our great freedom fighters are being wasted as the country is again pushed into the slavery of the IMF and World Bank. He said we are being governed by new-era viceroys. He said we have to import people to take care of our crucial ministries. He said it is a sad fact that we don’t run our economy and finance but the agents of the modern East India Company ruling Pakistan do it. He said the debt trap is the death trap for the nation and the new government sadly is also begging for more loans.
Altaf Shakoor asked that we should rewrite our history and highlight our great heroes and freedom fighters and condemn the occupiers and colonizers and their local agents. He said Soreh Badshah is our great hero and extensive research is needed on his political and resistance leadership. He said our universities should set up Soreh Badshah chairs in this regard. He said it is the responsibility of the Pakistan Muslim League- Functional (PML-F) to raise these issues in the Sindh Assembly and demand a national holiday on March 20 to pay homage to the great Pir Pagara.
