Lahore (Special Correspondent) — The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA) successfully organized the “SAFA International Summit 2026” on 8 and 9 May 2026 at Pearl Continental Hotel Lahore. Held under the theme “Future of Finance 2026,” the two-day summit marked the first major event in the series of celebrations commemorating the 75th anniversary of ICMA International.
The summit brought together distinguished policymakers, regulators, business leaders, financial experts, and senior representatives of professional accounting bodies from across South Asia. Participants exchanged views on key contemporary issues including the future economy, sustainable development, digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, and public finance reforms.
The distinguished guests at the event included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Advisor to the Finance Minister Khurram Shehzad, and Chairman Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) Tariq Subhani.
The summit was chaired by President of ICMA International, Azeem Hussain Siddiqui. Also present on the occasion were Vice President Mian Muhammad Yasin, Honorary Treasurer Abdul Qayyum, National Council Member Ghulam Mustafa Qazi, Chairman Strategic Board Zia-ul-Mustafa Awan, and Executive Director Aamir Ijaz Khan.
At the regional level, SAFA President Md. Humayun Kabir, Vice President Prabhan Kumar Jha, Advisor Ashfaq Yousuf Tola, along with delegations from various SAFA member countries, also participated actively in the summit.
During the two-day event, several keynote addresses, panel discussions, and technical sessions were organized, focusing on the future of the financial sector, the digital economy, and the evolving role of the accountancy profession amid global challenges.
In his concluding remarks, President ICMA International Azeem Hussain Siddiqui stated that the successful organization of the “SAFA International Summit 2026” is a shining reflection of the institution’s remarkable 75-year journey, and that this series of celebrations will continue throughout the year 2026.
