Karachi: The federal minister on Commerce was apprised of upcoming international World Expo 2025 to be held at Osaka Japan between 13 Apr-13 Oct 2025. It is expected that
28 million visitors will visit expo from 150 countries and 25 organizations. Pakistan was asked to take Category A pavilion but Pakistan after going through its own feasibility Pakistan asked for Category C pavilion.
The theme for 2025 conference is “designing future lives for our society” which is further divided into three categories: saving lives, connecting lives and empowering lives. The Federal Minister asked in what categories Pakistan has applied to which head of TDAP Islamabad informed that Pakistan has applied into connecting lives and empowering lives out of which the organizers asked to give Pakistan any one of these categories.
Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan asked what will happen when the approval is not received from Japan of Category C pavilion since the last date for acceptance is 30th April 2024. The Committee was informed that all RFP etc. is ready, all is needed is approval of summary. Further, if there is delay, TDAP will conduct sessions and conferences outside the exhibition halls. The Minister said that approval of summary will be done in few days from ministry.
Further, the minister asked how productive these expos and conferences have been in the past like Dubai expo. The committee was informed 150 MOUs were signed during Dubai expo which was a huge success.
Moreover, other members informed that recently FoodAg exhibition was also organized in Aug 2023 which led to 10 MOUs signing and it was first foodAg exhibition organized by Pakistan. Similarly, this year in August 2nd FoodAg conference will be held.
The Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan appreciated the efforts of TDAP and asked the management to look for other avenues as well for trade promotion.
