Karachi Pakistan : Expensive Rides: A Barrier for Student Commuters
The undeniable convenience offered by these platforms has been
overshadowed by the recent steep price hikes, making it nearly impractical to
use them on a daily basis.
Students like me now have to choose between paying for expensive rides or
dealing with long, exhausting commutes on packed public transport. With
schoolwork, part-time jobs, and other responsibilities to handle, the high fares
just add to already stressful situations.
Through this platform, I urge the concerned authorities and ride share
companies to reconsider their pricing models, particularly for students. Maybe
implementing a student discount code or affordable fares during peak hours
could make a significant change. Also, companies like Yango offer prices
according to the area, which means the one living in Clifton will be paying the
same prices as the one living in Gulshan, and that is just not acceptable.
Affordable transportation would go a long way in easing the daily struggles
many of us face.
