Karachi: Sheikh Mohammed Tariq, Vice Chairman All Pakistan Customs Agents Association (APCAA) draws the attention of the concerned authorities and entities to the issue faced by importers during the recent Eid holidays followed by long weekend and adverse weather conditions as importers faced significant challenges in clearing their containers and LCL cargo from the port.
These circumstances were beyond their control and led to delays in the clearance process, resulting in the accumulation of demurrage and port charges.
In light of these circumstances, APCAA requests Hutchison Ports Pakistan, KIGL, SAPT and KPT etc to consider waiving off the demurrage and port charges levied on the containers and LCL cargo. Importers should not be penalized for events that were beyond their control and for which they bear no fault.
Sheikh Mohammed Tariq, Vice Chairman APCCA maintains that granting this waiver would not only alleviate the financial burden on importers; but, also demonstrate your company’s understanding and support during challenging times. It would be perceived as a gesture of gratitude and respect towards your esteemed terminal and company.
APCCA sincerely appreciates your consideration of this request and looks forward to a positive response.
