Karachi (July 5, 2025): Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Aman Paracha, praised the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination for its initiatives to promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs) in Pakistan and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. He stated that the expansion of EV charging infrastructure, large-scale promotion of motorcycle retrofitting, and consumer financing options can make EVs more affordable and accessible to the general public. He called the government’s efforts in this regard commendable.
Paracha acknowledged that the lack of EV charging infrastructure in urban areas remains a major challenge. However, in Sindh, Provincial Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and FPCCI’s Energy Standing Committee Convener Malik Khuda Bux are making strong efforts to install EV charging plants. He also mentioned that Malik Group, in collaboration with Chinese partners, is investing in EV charging stations and plants in Pakistan, which will help ease the transition to electric transport.
Aman Paracha emphasized that due to the rising cost of fuel, there is an urgent need for strong policy support to convert all types of vehicles to electric. He urged the federal government to introduce an effective EV infrastructure policy that should remain valid for at least five years.
