KARACHI, Nov 13 : China’s Belt and Road Initiative offers new opportunities for economic growth and prosperity to developing countries. Through this project, nations can strengthen their basic infrastructure, build modern roads, railways, ports, and economic zones, benefit directly from global trade, boost local industries, and create more jobs. Renowned economist and scholar Dr Shahida Wizarat expressed these views while addressing the session of Hamdard Shura Karachi, presided over by Speaker Gen (r) Moinuddin Haider at the Hamdard Corporate Head Office yesterday. Ms Sadia Rashid (Hilal-e-Imtiaz) President Hamdard Foundation Pakistan was also present.
Dr Shahida Wizarat said that the Western economic model is based on loans, which has led to rising poverty and inflation across the world. For developing countries struggling with poverty, China’s initiative is a message of prosperity and holds great significance. That is why colonial powers strongly oppose this project.
She added that to sabotage the first phase of the BRI — the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) — India and others have been providing every kind of support to terrorists. Pakistan must seriously move forward with Phase II of the CPEC project. For this purpose, the security situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must be improved. The success of the BRI is essential for the survival and progress of Pakistan and other developing nations.

Renowned economist Dr. Shahida Wizarat addressing the session of Hamdard Shura Karachi at the Hamdard Corporate Head Office presided over by General (R) Moinuddin Haider, on the topic ‘Global Peace, the Gaza Ceasefire, Pakistan’s Foreign Policy, and the Role of the Muslim Ummah.’ Ms. Sadia Rashid (Hilal-e-Imtiaz), President of Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, is also present on the occasion.
She further said that ethnic, linguistic and sectarian politics are harming Pakistan’s society. This mindset is a remnant of the colonial system and must be eradicated. Politics should protect collective interests. Only national unity and honest politics can help the country meet its challenges. Western colonial powers still exert indirect control over developing countries by provoking linguistic, ethnic and other divisions. They push nations toward wars and border disputes. In resource-rich countries, the politics of division are actively encouraged. Separatist parties often receive financial and sometimes military support. By weakening states through these armed groups, natural resources and minerals are bought cheaply and weapons are sold back at high prices. However, Western scholars and the public are now becoming more aware. The large gatherings they have held in support of Palestine are indeed a very positive change.
Engr Anwarul Haq Siddiqui, Brig (r) Tariq Khalil, Mubashir Mir, Zafar Iqbal, Engr Ibnul Hasan Rizvi, Afzal Hameed, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Dr Amjad Jafri, Justice (r) Zia Parvez, Professor Dr Hakim Abdul Hannan, Col (r) Mukhtar Ahmed Butt, Dr Hina Khan, Brig (r) Dr Riazul Haq, Professor Dr Nasreen Afzal, Syed Muzaffar Ijaz, Dr Amir Tauseen, and others said Pakistan has taken a principled diplomatic stance against the oppression in Palestine and Sudan, which has been supported by many countries. To cover up its atrocities in Kashmir, India showed aggression towards Pakistan, but thanks to the excellent military strategy of Field Marshal Asim Munir and the Pakistan Armed Forces, Pakistan’s dignity and standing have risen in the international community
