KARACHI: Prominent businessman and Chief Operating Officer of Medicam Group of Companies Khurram Khalil NaniTalwala has said that the business community is not against super tax in Pakistan’s Uncertain economic conditions, the government should impose a super tax on industries, encourage small-scale industries, and awarded medals to the highest super taxpayers. Allow import of tax-free machinery for the industry associated with a tax exemption or its extension. Taxpayers will be appointed as Roaming Ambassadors of the Government of Pakistan and will also be represented on government boards given their experience. He expressed these views in his interview.
Khurram Khalil NaniTalwala added that in the current economic situation, doing business has not been easy. For the development of the country, the government should engage with Pakistani diplomats around the world to cooperate with the business community. So that the range of domestic products can be expanded all over the world and the Pakistani economy could grow.
“Unfortunately, we are not allowed to sell our products directly, but through middlemen,” he said. Our diplomats should tell the world that Pakistan does not want subsidies or loans but wants to do business on an equal footing. For this, business cooperation with Pakistan, It is not possible for foreign products sold freely in Pakistan, but Pakistani products are facing difficulties in selling around the world.
“Continued increases in utility tariffs have increased business costs, but the government is not allowing us to increase prices,” he said. However, the government knows that the rising in the dollar, petrol, and electricity prices have increased inflation.
Earlier, He said that Government had linked prices with the dollar. If the dollar rises then the prices of products will also rise and if the dollar decreases then the prices of products will also fall, but now no formula implemented.
If immediate action is not taken on the current scenario, God willing, our situations like Sri Lanka. Due to the lack of petrol in Sri Lanka, Industries are shutting down, causing their economy to stagnate.
Replying to a question, he said that many sectors in our country can do business with the world and earn valuable foreign exchange for the country through large-scale exports. We have no shortage of talent. All we need is government support and the day we get government support, then no one will be able to stop Pakistan from developing.
The previous government gave a very tough time to the business community due to which the business community has also become very tough.
