Karachi: Dow University Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Saeed Quraishy has said that the rate of breast cancer is increasing in Pakistan, every year 40,000 women dies due to the breast cancer, Pakistan has the highest number of death rate in Asia. If this deadly disease is diagnosed at an early stage, this rate can be reduced. He stated while talking to the participants as Chief Guest at the Breast Cancer Awareness Program organized by Dow University DMC Campus and Surgical Unit 3 of Dr. Ruth K.M. Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi.
Registrar Dow Univerity of Health Sciences Dr. Ashar Afaq, Professor Farhat Jalil of Surgical Unit 3, Dr. Shumaila Khalid, Dr. Geeti Ara, Dr. Khalid Shafi and a large number of teachers and students were also there. Vice Chancellor Prof. Muhammad Saeed Quraishy said that in order to reduce the rate of breast cancer in Pakistan, there is a need to create more awareness about this disease. Awareness can reduce mortality by diagnosing the disease at an early stage, It is better that we play our role in spreading awareness to save our loved ones from this deadly disease. Speaking to the participants, Prof. Farhat Jalil said that public and private hospitals in Pakistan have all the required arrangements for the treatment of breast cancer. Usually, people from the rural areas reach the hospital at the last stage, which results the lives in danger.
On this Event, Dr. Giti Arai said that precaution is better than cure, that is, there are some causes which, if controlled, reduce the risk of breast cancer, such as reducing obesity, eating a balanced and healthy diet, Includes getting a good night’s sleep.
