KARACHI — Armstrong Tires has achieved a historic milestone by completing Pakistan’s first-ever commercial export of locally manufactured premium SUV, 4×4 and Passenger Car Radial (PCR) tires to the United States, opening a new chapter for the country’s automotive manufacturing and export industry.

Manufactured by Armstrong ZE at its state-of-the-art facility in Gharo, Sindh, the shipment marks Pakistan’s entry into one of the world’s most demanding tire markets, where products must meet strict international standards for quality, safety and performance. The achievement reflects the country’s growing capability to produce high-value engineered products for global customers.

More than 100 words into this milestone, Armstrong Tires highlighted the significance of the export, describing it as a breakthrough not only for the company but also for Pakistan’s manufacturing sector and export economy. Chairman Azim Yusufzai said the successful shipment demonstrates that products made in Pakistan can compete in the highly competitive US market while showcasing the country’s expanding industrial expertise.

The Gharo manufacturing facility represents an investment of more than $100 million during its first phase and is the first tire manufacturing project in Pakistan financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. The project is also backed by a consortium of leading Pakistani financial institutions, including HBL, Meezan Bank, HMB and Bank Alfalah.

Once fully operational, the plant will have the capacity to produce three million premium SUV, 4×4 and PCR tires annually. The project is expected to create more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs, while supporting technology transfer, workforce development and industrial modernisation.

According to the company, the facility achieved export-quality production within just seven months of commencing operations, reflecting its advanced manufacturing systems, quality assurance standards and technical expertise.

The initiative also supports Pakistan’s import substitution strategy by reducing reliance on imported tires while creating new opportunities for high-value exports. Industry observers say the development could strengthen Pakistan’s position within the global automotive supply chain and encourage further investment in advanced manufacturing.

The inaugural shipment to the United States forms part of Armstrong ZE’s broader international expansion strategy and reinforces Pakistan’s ambitions to become a trusted supplier of world-class automotive products in international markets.
