Mian Zahid Hussain on Friday said the appointment process of the eleventh Army Chief
and Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman was completed on merit and without any
major political controversy which is good for the country.
The President of Pakistan did not obstruct the most important appointments contrary to
the rumors, for which he deserves compliments, he said.
Mian Zahid Hussain said that after this important announcement, no effort was made by
any side to make the matter controversial.

Talking to the business community, the veteran business leader said that Pakistan is a
nuclear country and a good tradition has been established by appointing the most senior
generals to these important positions.
The business community hopes that the ongoing political storm in the country will settle
down and all stakeholders will focus on the Charter of Economy with a mature vision to
push the country towards economic stability.
He said that currently the country going through the most difficult situation and a lot
needs to be done to rehabilitate the flood victims and save the sinking economy.
The problem of terrorism is resurfacing in the country, for which unity and consensus
among all stakeholders is necessary and it is hoped that the new army chief will play his
role in this regard.
Mian Zahid Hussain said that General Asim Munir is facing the task of improving the
image of the army, rebuilding the country’s reputation, and completing CPEC.
The COAS has served as DG of Military Intelligence and Chief of ISI, Corps
Commander Gujranwala, and Quartermaster General.
The people and the business community, who are troubled by political instability,
economic problems, and inflation, have high expectations from the country’s first Hafiz-
e-Quran army chief, he said.
