Karachi: The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC). The Japanese Film Festival has been held annually in Karachi by the Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi and the Japan Foundation. This year, five Japanese movies will be played including “Bento Harassment,” “Mentai Piriri,” “Finding Calico,” “The Takatsu River” and “Pop in Q” in three days at JICC.
In the inauguration ceremony, the audience enjoyed the screening of “Bento Harassment” by Rempei Tsukamoto. The film is based on a story of a single mother and her high school daughter who is going through the “rebellious phase.” The exasperated mother makes “bentos” (boxed lunches) with messages of love for her daughter every day and eventually their bond deepens. This “bento” story is a universal tale of mother-daughter love!
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, Mr. ASHIDA Katsunori greeted guests. Discussing basic theme of the movie, he said ‘’rebellion is a universal issue, perhaps people in Pakistan can easily understand it, and this is comically portrayed in this film. Pakistani people will enjoy this and at the same time, they will also get an idea of what it is like in Japanese families and schools.
