The project is expected to substantially enhance the supply of clean drinking water to the city, with an estimated output of around 300 million litres per day. This capacity is projected to benefit approximately 2.2 million residents, addressing long-standing challenges related to water availability and quality in Karachi.
The agreement also marks the return of EIB Global financing in Pakistan after a gap of nearly a decade, signaling renewed international confidence in infrastructure development partnerships within the country.
Officials emphasized that the initiative represents a practical, long-term investment in public welfare, focusing on energy-efficient technology and sustainable water management systems designed to improve service delivery in urban areas.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that the collaboration between KWSC and EIB will pave the way for additional development projects aimed at strengthening Karachi’s essential urban infrastructure and improving living standards for its residents.
