FPCCI president’s performance is disappointing.

Islamabad (October-15-2024) Trade leader and founder President of Attock Chamber of Commerce Mirza Abdul Rehman said on Tuesday that the performance of the president of the FPCCI, Atif Ikram Sheikh, is very disappointing, which is frustrating the business community and damaging the reputation of the ruling group.

He added that elected vice presidents have been side-lined by two cronies of the president who have become in charge of everything and plundering resources while damaging the organization with their negative behaviour.

Atif Ikram Sheikh was voted to power following his tall claims regarding improvement and transparency in the affairs, but his output is zero, which has frustrated the business community.

So much so that the leading leaders of the United Business Group (UBG) have stopped visiting FPCCI offices and started ignoring the invitations.

Mirza Abdul Rahman said in a statement issued here that the performance of the Federal Chamber is very disappointing. Nothing is being done to solve the problems of the business community. Now, under a conspiracy, efforts are being made to shift the head office from Karachi to Islamabad.

He informed that important matters and financial issues are being handled by ignoring the Executive Committee which must approve all the important matters.

A non-elected person is being paid hundreds of thousands of rupees per month while another non-elected person is being given food and refreshment contracts, which insults the voters.

Mirza Abdul Rahman said that Karachi is the center of Pakistan’s economic activities, and most of the business community resides there, so the head office of FPCCI should be in Karachi.

He said the voters dissatisfied with the businessman panel voted for UBG, but those calling for change proved to be more incompetent and corrupt.

Those who promise change for success are leading things to ruin for vested interests. Atif Ikram Sheikh has been president for nine and a half months but still needs to raise his voice for business people and industrialists as expected.

Mirza Abdul Rehman said that everyone in the FPCCI close to the president is making life difficult for others and trying to benefit from the situation.

He informed that the president’s unelected cronies get comfort in humiliating the FPCCI staff. The negative work environment and poor management result in stress, killing productivity.

The semi-educated managers are using fear as a weapon, which is giving rise to anxiety, stress, and frustration, and negative impacts on the workforce.

Mirza Abdul Rehman said a frustrated workforce is less productive than a satisfied one, negatively impacting engagement levels.

The less engaged staff will be more likely to look for other job opportunities, less likely to perform in the workplace, and less likely to contribute to the organization’s mission, he added.

Most of the staff has developed negative feelings towards the president and his blue-eyed, unelected officials; they are looking for jobs elsewhere, and damaging the organization as much as possible.

Mirza Abdul Rehman warned that unchecked negativity can further contaminate the organization’s climate, atmosphere, and culture, which, in turn, can breed more negativity.

He demanded that it is important to evaluate and minimize these negative emotions as much as possible.
