PESHAWAR – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast intermittent rain and windstorms for Peshawar and several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa starting Tuesday night and continuing over the next two days.
Moist currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are making their way into the upper and central parts of the country, while a westerly weather system also persists over northern regions. These conditions are expected to trigger scattered showers and gusty winds across Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Shangla, Kohistan, Malakand, Swat, Kalam, Lower Dir, Kohat, Khyber, Peshawar, and Mardan on Tuesday night.
For Wednesday and Thursday, the PMD predicts further rain and wind activity — including isolated heavy showers — in areas such as Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu, and Kurram.
Despite the approaching weather system, Peshawar and much of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experienced hot and humid weather over the last 24 hours. Dera Ismail Khan recorded the highest temperature at 44°C, followed closely by Peshawar and Bannu at 43°C.
Peshawar’s temperature forecast is as follows:
- Wednesday: 41°C to 43°C
- Thursday: 40°C to 42°C
- Friday: 39°C to 41°C
